LONG AD: AEROSPACE ENGINEERING AIRCRAFT DEVELOPMENT POSITION- The Aerospace Engineering Department at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, invites applicants with an earned Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering or closely-related field, to apply for a full-time, academic year tenure track faculty position at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank. The projected start date is September 9, 2017.

Duties include teaching Aerospace Engineering courses, including the Aircraft Design sequence; building a research program in an area of advanced technology for modern aircraft. The Aircraft Design sequence at Cal Poly is a year-long design experience for all seniors selecting the aeronautics specialization. The course is typically taught with a conventional aircraft section and a dedicated Unmanned Aircraft System section. The design sequence benefits from significant industry interest and support, including 5-6 design review field trips to industry and government facilities. Candidates with experience in all areas of aircraft technology are encouraged to apply; areas such as Guidance Navigation and Control (GNC), morphing airframes, vehicle health monitoring, or other areas, are of interest. Experience with civil or military aircraft development programs is desired.
An earned doctorate in Aerospace Engineering or related discipline is required. Candidates must have a strong commitment to teaching excellence and laboratory-based instruction at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and exhibit potential for professional recognition via research and publication. The department seeks candidates who have an interdisciplinary mindset and who work well in a highly collaborative environment. Demonstrated ability in written and oral use of the English language is required.
