The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) seeks to fill multiple 9.5 month tenure-track faculty positions at the assistant/associate/full professor level.

Qualifications: B.S. in electrical engineering and Ph.D. in electrical engineering or a closely related field. Applicants must demonstrate the potential for outstanding teaching, developing a strong research portfolio in a relevant area of electrical engineering, having an established record of scholarly peer-reviewed work, and for serving the mission and goals of the university. Other responsibilities include curriculum development, assessment, student advising, professional and scholarly activities, and serving on committees. The successful candidate will have prior teaching experience in an engineering program. We encourage strong candidates in the following areas:

- digital electronics
- embedded systems
- software engineering
- communications
- power systems
- digital signal processing
- cybersecurity
- electromagnetics

Special consideration will be given to those interested in establishing a strong research program in power systems or cybersecurity. Cross disciplinary experience in two or more of these areas will be a plus. Senior faculty applicants will need to demonstrate experience as a Principal Investigator with a successful grant track record. US citizenship and industrial experience is preferred. The applicant must possess excellent oral and written communication skills in English and must be enthusiastic about working with undergraduate and graduate students. The candidate must have demonstrated commitment to, or experience with racially diverse populations.

Institutional Profile: The faculty assignment will be at the Morgan State University Clarence M. Mitchell School of Engineering. The ECE Department serves more than 500 undergraduate students and more than 50 graduate students. Morgan State University has been designated as Maryland’s Public Urban University, with the responsibility of addressing the needs of residents, schools, and organizations within the Baltimore Metropolitan Area. Morgan State University is located in a residential area of northeast Baltimore City. It is easily accessible from downtown, the Baltimore beltway, and Interstate 95. Each year, the school enrolls more than 7,500 students in programs from the baccalaureate level through the doctorate. The University has a comprehensive undergraduate curriculum with more specialized offerings at the master’s and doctoral levels. While Morgan is a historically black institution, it serves students of all racial and ethnic backgrounds. Its mission today is to enroll a student body that is diverse in its socioeconomic and academic status and to provide the full-range of experiences and services that permits it to successfully serve students with a wide variety of goals and needs. In many fields, but particularly in engineering and the sciences, Morgan accounts for large percentages of degrees received by African-Americans from Maryland institutions.
