The Biomedical Engineering program at the University of Waterloo, housed in the Department of Systems Design Engineering, invites applications for two tenure-track faculty positions at the rank of Assistant Professor. In the case of exceptional candidates an appointment at the rank of Associate Professor or Full Professor may be considered. Candidates must possess a PhD degree, preferably in engineering, and must be eligible for registration with the Professional Engineers of Ontario and commit to registering within three years.
The program strengths lie in the areas of Biomechanics (e.g., biofluids, musculoskeletal and tissue mechanics, sports engineering, rehabilitation), Biosignals (e.g., imaging, electrograms, diagnostics, machine learning), and Biodevices (e.g., sensors, instruments, therapeutics, Bio-MEMS, assistive devices, implants, prostheses/orthoses). We are seeking candidates in Biomedical Engineering, with a focus in one or more of our strength areas, or in other related or emerging areas. The successful candidates will be expected to supervise graduate students, to develop a leading-edge research program, and to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in engineering science and engineering design fundamentals with biomedical applications.
Our departmental philosophy is to take an integrative and multidisciplinary approach to creative problem solving, modeling, and design; thus collaborative and interdisciplinary research is encouraged within the Department, Faculty, University, and world-wide. We seek individuals who have developed or who have the capability to develop robust and sustained externally-funded research programs that complement existing strengths in the Department and Faculty.
Please submit with the application a statement of teaching interests and goals, per the instructions at Systems Design Open Positions. Three letters of reference will be requested for applicants invited for an interview. Applications should be forwarded to Ms. V. Lawrence, Department of Systems Design Engineering, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada, N2L 3G1, preferably by email to email@example.com. If you have any questions regarding the position, the application process, assessment process, eligibility, or a request for accommodation during the hiring process, please contact Vicky Lawrence, firstname.lastname@example.org.
