The Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering at Florida A&M University-Florida State University College of Engineering is pleased to invite applications from highly qualified individuals for teaching faculty positions in the field of Electrical and Computer Engineering in Tallahassee, Florida. This position is at the Teaching Faculty-I level, but well-qualified candidates will be considered for a higher rank.
We are interested in candidates with a background in Electrical & Computer Engineering, particularly in areas such as Electromagnetic Fields, Computer Engineering, Electronics, or Capstone design projects. Other areas of Electrical and Computer Engineering will also be considered, particularly if they complement the department's existing strengths.
The ECE Department currently has ~32 faculty members, around 100 graduate students, and over 500 undergraduate students, with annual research expenditures exceeding $20 million. Currently, the department offers Electrical Engineering BS, MS, and PhD degree programs, and Computer Engineering BS degree programs. The ECE Department is applying to add Computer Engineering MS and PhD degree programs. The Department has outstanding research facilities housed within the Center for Advanced Power Systems (CAPS) and the college building in the areas of electrical and computer engineering. The FAMU-FSU College of Engineering serves as the nexus of two major public universities, each with a distinct mission yet focused on delivering world-class engineering education and research. Additionally, all seven of the college’s eligible undergraduate degree programs are accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (https://www.abet.org).
Candidates must possess an earned Ph.D. in Electrical or Computer Engineering or a closely related discipline, demonstrate the ability to teach large classes, and have a strong interest in using technology in engineering education. The successful candidate is expected to have a strong commitment to teaching excellence in undergraduate and graduate courses and participate in college and professional service.
