Brown Engineering is recruiting exceptionally talented researchers who have received their Ph.D. degree in engineering, or an engineering-related discipline, or who expect to do so by July 2025, and who aspire to careers as academic leaders, creating independent research and pursuing pathways to innovation and discovery.

The School of Engineering is especially interested in qualified candidates who can contribute, through their research, teaching, and/or service, to the diversity and excellence of the academic community.

The Hibbitt Engineering Fellows will receive an annual salary plus benefits and an additional research and travel stipend. Anticipated start date for these full-time positions is in July 2025. Initial appointment is for one year, with expected renewal for a second year given satisfactory progress.

Hope Street Postdoctoral Fellowship

The School of Engineering at Brown University seeks applications from exceptionally talented researchers who aspire to careers as academic leaders, creating independent research, and pursuing pathways to discovery and innovation. Eligible applicants will have completed their Ph.D. studies in engineering or engineering-related fields by July 2025.

Qualifications

Hibbitt Engineering Fellow

Given the School’s collaborative approach to advancing knowledge across disciplinary boundaries, the strongest applications will highlight research drawing on more than one of the following areas of research focus, including Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Fluids and Thermal Sciences, Materials Science and Engineering, and Solid Mechanics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. by the start of the position.

Successful candidates will be selected based on an evaluation of their promise as future academic leaders. They will be expected to carry out independent and collaborative research with engineering faculty members; teach one course per year in the School; help connect innovations in the research environment to concepts taught in courses; and ensure they develop strong teaching skills prior to launching their faculty careers.

Hope Street Postdoctoral Fellowship

Applications will be considered from scholars working in the areas of Biomedical Engineering, Chemical and Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Fluids and Thermal Sciences, Materials Science, and Solid Mechanics.
