CONCORDIA UNIVERSITY. The Centre for Engineering in Society (CES) of the Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science invites applications for a Limited Term Appointment (LTA). This is a full-time position for an initial appointment starting May 1, 2018 or soon thereafter. The CES teaches courses in professional ethics, social and ethical implications of technology, global engineering, and technical communication. The successful candidate will teach undergraduate courses in professional ethics, and social and ethical implications of engineering and digital technology from an interdisciplinary perspective. Special consideration will be given to candidates who can contribute to our efforts in improving our students’ critical and innovative thinking, and our certificate program in innovation, technology and society.
The LTA appointment will be at the rank of Lecturer or Assistant Professor, dependent upon the applicant’s degree and qualifications. Preference will be given to candidates holding a Ph.D. in science and technology studies, or another closely-related discipline that will contribute to CES’s mission. A demonstrated ability in teaching is a strong asset. All applications should reach the department no later than March 15, 2018, however, applications will be reviewed as they are received.
Submission will consist of: (i) a letter of application, (ii) a current curriculum vitae, (iii) a statement on the contribution an interdisciplinary social scientist could make to engineering education, (iv) a statement of the applicant’s philosophy of teaching, (v) evidence of teaching effectiveness and (vi) the names of three referees.
