The Department of Electrical, Computer, and Systems Engineering (ECSE) at Case Western Reserve University (CWRU) invites applications for one tenured faculty position at the Full Professor level. Appointments will be considered for starting dates as early as July 1, 2026. The successful candidate will be the inaugural holder of The Dr. Farrokh Khatibi Professorship endowed chairin the ECSE Department in the area of interdisciplinary advanced telecommunications. The candidate will hold primary appointments in Case School of Engineering, although in many instances they will be eligible for additional appointments within other academic units of CWRU.
The Case School of Engineering is a recognized leader in innovative technologies such as robotics, artificial intelligence/machine learning (AI/ML), biomedical imaging, human-machine interaction, and precision diagnostics & therapeutics. The next wave of innovations in these fields will depend on the ability of devices, robots, and computational nodes to communicate wirelessly — rapidly and with high fidelity and security. The successful candidate is thus envisioned to lead transformative, interdisciplinary research initiatives that broadly focus on next-generation telecommunication technologies. The specific areas of interest to the department include, but are not limited to, 1) design of high-performance analog/radio-frequency (RF) integrated circuitry for next-generation wireless connectivity, 2) emerging applications of AI/ML in the design automation and optimization of analog/RF circuitry, 3) signal processing for next-generation wireless telecommunication systems, and 4) advanced wireless telecommunication systems and networks for AI/ML-enabled connectivity.
In compliance with the City of Cleveland’s Pay Transparency Ordinance (effective October 27, 2025), the annual starting base salary range for this position is from $185,000 – $220,000. CWRU considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer. Qualifications
The candidate must have a Ph.D. degree in Electrical Engineering, or a closely related field, and be an internationally renowned thought leader with an outstanding record in scholarly research, fundraising, teaching excellence, and leadership in their professional community.
