Job Description

The Department of Mathematical Sciences of Stevens Institute of Technology (Stevens) invites applications for a tenure-track position at assistant or associate professor level starting in Fall 2018. Â The department is building a group in statistics and stochastic analysis and expects to substantially extend its research activities and educational offerings in these areas.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in statistics or a relevant field of mathematics by August 2018, and show evidence of or potential for developing an active research program, publishing in premier journals, and obtaining external funding. Â Ability and desire to work collaboratively in an interdisciplinary environment is expected. The candidates should also possess a passion for and be committed to excellence in both graduate and undergraduate education in a highly innovative and entrepreneurial culture at Stevens.

The Department of Mathematical Sciences is an internationally recognized center of excellence for research and education in contemporary mathematical sciences with an undergraduate program in mathematics, a Ph.D. program in pure and applied mathematics, and MSc. programs in mathematics, applied mathematics, and stochastic systems. Â The Institute offers excellent computational facilities and opportunities for interdisciplinary research with well-established programs in engineering and science, computer science, quantitative finance and business.

Stevens Institute of Technology is a private university located in Hoboken, New Jersey. The 55-acre campus is located on the Hudson River across from midtown Manhattan within a few minutes of NYC via public transportation.  Stevens’ superb location offers excellent opportunities for collaboration with nearby universities, Brookhaven National Laboratory, and major corporate research laboratories.  Schaefer School of Engineering and Science is the largest among four schools at Stevens.
