A Post-Doctoral Research Associate position is available at the Midwest Roadside Safety Facility (MwRSF) at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. The MwRSF is an internationally-known roadside safety research laboratory and crash testing facility.
Research areas include:
- roadside safety structures, such as bridge deck and rail systems, guardrail, and crash cushions
- protection and threat mitigation
- impact design and structural dynamics
- vehicle crashworthiness and occupant risk
- dynamic material behavior, including steel, concrete, and soil
- accident analysis and reconstruction
- dynamic evaluation of materials, structures, and vehicles using LS-DYNA finite element analysis and vehicle dynamics codes

The successful candidate will manage, conduct, and participate in design, analysis, and reporting of research studies within fields of transportation safety, motorsports safety, dynamic impact events, soil mechanics, security and protection, material behavior, vehicle dynamics or other areas to be determined. Other responsibilities will include to prepare and submit proposals/budgets to acquire new funding within strategic research areas of transportation safety, dynamic impact events, soil mechanics, material behavior, and vehicle dynamics. Must have a Ph.D. in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field. Office space and competitive salary with benefits will be provided.
