The University of Wollongong (UOW) is an exceptional place to combine an outstanding lifestyle with an extremely stimulating workplace environment for research and study. Physics is a research intensive and innovative School which greatly values research and teaching.

The Centre for Medical Radiation Physics (CMRP) is an integral part of the School of Physics and is a recognised research strength of the UOW. CMRP is an internationally recognised leader in development of medical devices based on semiconductor radiation detectors for radiation medicine including for X-ray and particle radiation therapy dosimetry, medical imaging and space radiation fields. Monte Carlo radiation transport simulations for prediction of the response of radiation detectors on medical linac, particle accelerators and space radiation fields is an additional strength of CMRP.

This position will support the CMRP mission on medical devices development and research students (at undergraduate and post-graduate levels) training and education. It will provide advanced technical level IT services by designing, developing, testing, implementing and maintaining multi-threated Graphical User Interfaces (GUIs) and data acquisition communication protocols. Web-based and serial protocols will be adopted to acquire, manage, monitor and post-process data acquired from specialised medical radiation detection instrumentation, off-the-shelf and custom designed at CMRP. This position will collaborate with industry to implement developed medical devices to clinical practice.
