Work description

1. Test GAN models: Compare leading GANs for tabular data, focusing on fairness and attribute consistency.
2. Try LLMs: Use open-source LLMs with prompts adapted for generating tables.
3. Compare quality: Check how well the synthetic data matches real data and supports predictive tasks.
4. Create new metrics: Design metrics that combine statistical similarity with task performance.
5. Publish results: Write and submit a paper to a conference or journal.

Academic Qualifications

• BSc in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar

Minimum profile required

• Enrolled in a Master’s program in the relevant admission area.
• Knowledge of Machine Learning techniques.

Preference factors

• Enrolled in dissertation, project, or another course unit leading to the thesis writing.
• Grade average above 16.
• Proven practical experience in programming with R and RStudio.
• Knowledge of Data Visualisation and Multivariate Analysis.

Maintenance stipend: € 1040.98, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants, paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.

INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".

The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
