Open-Rank Tenure-Track/Tenured Faculty Positions in Electrical and Computer Engineering
College of Engineering, University of Miami

The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) at the University of Miami (Coral Gables, FL) invites nominations and applications for three open-rank, tenure-track faculty positions as part of a bold growth trajectory that will significantly expand the department’s impact and visibility. This search represents the first phase of a multi-phase hiring plan to be executed over the next three to four years. While applications are welcome at all ranks, the department is particularly interested in early and mid-career faculty who are ready to accelerate UM ECE’s growth with established research programs.

We seek exceptional scholars in the following strategic thrust areas:

  • AI-Powered Microchips and Systems (AI-powered microchips, AI-powered medical systems, edge intelligence, trustworthy and explainable AI)

  • Robotics and Autonomous Systems (medical and surgical robotics, autonomous vehicles, drones, human–machine collaboration, assistive systems)

  • Quantum and Nano Technologies (quantum communication, computing, sensing, nanoelectronics, emerging devices, energy-efficient systems)

  • Cybersecurity and Cyber Physical Systems (hardware, software, and network security; AI for secure and resilient systems; privacy; secure sensing and control in critical infrastructures)

Candidates with a PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or other closely related engineering disciplines are encouraged to apply.

About the College of Engineering and the University of Miami
The College of Engineering (CoE) (https://www.coe.miami.edu/) houses six departments, including ECE, and complements the Frost Institute of Data Science and Computing, the Miller School of Medicine, and other academic units. Faculty in ECE have extraordinary opportunities for collaboration across the university, including with the world-renowned Miller School of Medicine and the UHealth system, enabling transformative research in medical robotics, AI-driven healthcare systems, smart devices, and other life-changing technologies.   • Commitment to teaching and mentoring at both undergraduate and graduate levels

  • A willingness to expand disciplinary boundaries to address complex technical and societal grand challenges

Exceptional consideration will be given to early and mid-career candidates who lead externally funded research programs and successfully mentor doctoral students, particularly those able to leverage existing teams and projects to build collaborations at UM.
