The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at Tulane University is pleased to invite applications to fill a Tenure-Track Faculty Position at the Associate or Assistant Professor level.

The Department of Biomedical Engineering, founded in 1977, has an ABET accredited undergraduate program with approximately 200 undergraduate majors and 50 graduate students. BME is administratively located in the School of Science and Engineering on Tulane’s uptown campus. Teaching and research facilities exist both on the uptown campus and on the downtown Health Science campus. Translational and basic research in biomedical engineering is enhanced by co-location of departmental research facilities within the Tulane University Hospital / School of Medicine building complex. Forbes magazine ranks New Orleans as a top "brain magnet" city in the nation, with a burgeoning biotechnology entrepreneurial ecosystem. The city boasts the co-location of the Louisiana Cancer Research Consortium, the New Orleans Bioinnovation Center, and the new University Medical Center and Veterans Administration Hospital.

Applicants must have an earned doctorate in engineering or in a closely related field. We seek candidates who will contribute to an ambitious department with strong links to the physical, mathematical and biological sciences, the schools of Medicine, Public Health and Tropical Medicine, the National Primate Research Center, the Center for Computational Science, the Tulane Brain Institute (, and Tulane’s Bioinnovation PhD program ( The successful candidate will be collaborative, will develop/continue their externally funded research program, and will enhance our departmental mission, vision, and values ( Inquiries may be sent to
