The Department of Electronics and Nanoengineering conducts research and arranges related courses in the fields of microelectronics, micro and nanotechnology, radio engineering, electromagnetics, and space technology. The department research groups have active national and international collaboration with several institutes and companies. Research groups are working with world-class research facilities and instruments; the largest clean rooms in the Nordic countries are located in the Micro- and nanotechnology centre Micronova.

Our renowned research group, lead by professor Jussi Ryynänen and Sr. Scientist Kari Stadius, specializes in RF and millimeter-wave integrated circuit design and is at the forefront of innovation in 5G/6G communication, joint communication and sensing, and the co-design of antennas and transceiver electronics.  We are also engaged to AI-driven circuit and antenna design methodologies, setting new standards in the field. We possess an exceptional design and measurement environment, complete with access to advanced FinFET and GaN IC technologies, providing an unparalleled platform for your research and development.

You will receive hands-on education and gain invaluable experience, positioning yourself as an expert in high-frequency integrated circuit design.

For post-doctoral applicants we expect proven track-record and experience on IC design with silicon or compound semiconductor technologies. Preferably your thesis has revolved around this topic, and you have both theoretical and practical skills on our discipline.

What we offer
Doctoral Researchers
Position will be filled for 2 + 2 years (doctoral studies are expected to take 4 years in total). The salary will be based on both the job requirements and the employee’s personal performance in accordance with the salary system of Finnish universities. The starting salary for a doctoral student is approximately 3000 EUR/month.

Postdoctoral Researchers
At Aalto, you will have an opportunity to progress on your path at academic career or evolve within our industrial-oriented projects as a real expert. You will participate on our innovative team as an independent thinker and act as an instructor for our doctoral students. Based on your personal preferences, you may engage yourself with teaching activities and gain such academic merits.
The starting salary for a post-doc researcher is approximately 4000 EUR/month.
