JOB DESCRIPTION/REQUIREMENTS:
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Alabama in Huntsville invites applications for one tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level. Consideration will be given to candidates who have expertise in all areas of cybersecurity including but not limited to the following areas: design of secure systems, cyber physical systems, network security, cloud computing, automotive systems, intrusion detection, cryptography, trusted systems and digital forensics. The candidate recruited for this position will have opportunities to interact with the newly established Center for Cybersecurity research and Education.

Successful applicants will have earned a PhD degree in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a closely related discipline. Applicants should demonstrate (a) potential for scholarly activities that are supported by publications, externally funded contracts and grants (b) commitment to teach and mentor graduate and undergraduate students and © a desire for university and professional service.

ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers the BS, MSE, and PhD degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering, the MSSE degree, and the PhD degree in the Optical Science and Engineering multidisciplinary program. The department has 20 tenured/tenure-earning faculty with over 650 undergraduate students and about 160 graduate students. The ECE Department has research strengths in the areas of materials, signal processing and embedded systems. Current sources of faculty funding include federal sources such as NSF, NSA, DOD and NASA, and industry.

ABOUT THE COLLEGE: The College of Engineering currently has a research focus that addresses three National Academy of Engineering (NAE) Grand Challenge problems: secure cyberspace; restore and improve urban infrastructure; and engineer tools of scientific discovery. The College has made recent investments in materials engineering, energy storage, cybersecurity, and systems engineering The College of Engineering and the ECE department play an important role in several UAH research thrust areas including (a) cybersecurity and big data, (b) aerospace and systems engineering, and © earth, atmospheric, and space systems. The College enrolls 35% of UAH’s undergraduates in ABET‐accredited programs in aerospace, chemical, civil, computer, electrical, industrial and systems, and mechanical engineering.
