The Faculty of Engineering at Dalhousie University invites applications for a full-time (1.0 FTE) three year limited-term appointment at the rank of Instructor commencing July 2017, or as soon as possible thereafter. This position is an essential part of the Mechanical Engineering Department’s innovation and design strategy to dramatically increase the education of students in innovation and design, and to support student entrepreneurial activities. The recent establishment of innovation centered initiatives have led to significant academic programming for undergraduate engineering students. To implement the next phase of the academic programming, an instructor is needed to teach design-centric courses as well as lead the academic supports for student start-ups coming out of these innovation initiatives.

Duties of this position include: instruction of undergraduate courses (example – MECH 4015/4025 Design Project I & II, ENGI 2203 Design II, ENGI 2400 Mechanics II, etc.); support of innovation initiatives including the instruction of explorer and Bootcamp courses (examples: , ); and the provision of administrative services (example – academic advising for year 1 and 2 students).

Candidates must have a Masters degree in engineering, be registered professional engineers or EIT in Canada and committed to registration in Nova Scotia, and have university teaching experience in engineering. Preference will be given to applicants with experience in design teaching, innovation/entrepreneurship programs, entrepreneurial activities, and student advising.
