Salary in the range: £46,970 to £52,350 p.a.

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Imperial College London invites applications for a Lecturer post in the area of Electrochemical Storage. Outstanding applicants with backgrounds in the physical sciences or engineering will be considered. Candidates with expertise in either experimental techniques or modelling are welcome, an element of both is particularly welcome.

The Electrochemical Science & Engineering group has an internationally leading record in pure and applied research into electrochemical energy storage and conversion devices ranging from fundamental electrochemistry to systems engineering. The group focuses on understanding how electrochemical devices work and translating an understanding of the science into engineering tools & knowledge that industry can use to make better products powered by electrochemical devices. The ability to work closely with industry to solve engineering problems requiring fundamental science is an important aspect of the groups work.

The appointee will be expected to plan and direct research activities and programmes of outstanding quality, international repute and innovation in Electrochemical Storage. The person appointed will be expected also to contribute to collaborative research projects.

Applicants must have: a doctoral degree (or equivalent) in a relevant field; a strong background in electrochemistry; an outstanding research record in their area of expertise as demonstrated by their publications or a proven ability to deliver innovative research in an industrial context. Applicants must be excellent communicators. An ability to initiate and lead teaching activities and be able to demonstrate innovation in teaching delivery, course design and assessment is desirable. Applicants are expected to take an active role in the organisation of the Departments teaching activity across all years and subject areas.
