Graduate research and teaching assistantships with competitive stipends are available in the School of Informatics, Computing, and Cyber Systems (SICCS) at Northern Arizona University (NAU) to support students in our graduate programs, including the Ph.D. degree in Informatics and Computing and various M.S. offerings. SICCS aims to support foundational and interdisciplinary research and learning by merging theory and methods in computation, data, and software and systems engineering with scientific domain knowledge in order to drive breakthroughs that address key societal challenges. Our faculty and researchers maintain active collaborative relationships with many institutes and centers across NAU’s campus, including the Center for Ecosystem Science and Society, the Center for Microbial Genetics and Genomics, the Center for Bioengineering Innovation, and the Merriam-Powell Center for Environmental Research.

Research opportunities are available in a broad variety of research areas supported by our faculty, including cybersecurity, wireless sensor and communication systems, cyber-physical systems, empirical software engineering, software testing, software architecture and visualization, computer graphics, machine learning, wearable computing, bioinformatics, population health, remote sensing, and ecological modeling.
