The Applied Research Center is currently seeking a Post-Doctoral Associate to join our team of professionals:

Job Summary

The Post-Doctoral Associate Program is designed to recruit outstanding Ph.D. applicants to assist a line organization in meeting its mission objectives and provide a professional technical work environment for the employee. The Ph.D. must have been conferred within one to five years prior to employment. This assignment is for a one-year period, it is grant funded, and this appointment may be renewed at management’s discretion based on excellent work performance and funding availability.

Job Description
Post-Doctoral Associate in the Information Technology group to work on the project sponsored by the Department of Energy.

Primary Job Duties:
Design, develop, document, and test advanced machine learning systems that brings together data from heterogeneous sources using scripting and/or programming languages (Scala, R, Python, Java)
Candidate will be responsible for stream / batch processing of sensor data, videos and pictures received from nuclear power plant and sensor network.  
Responsible for implementing condition based instead of time based preventive maintenance for nuclear power plant.
Evaluate structured and unstructured datasets utilizing machine learning , deep learning , statistics , feature extraction , predictive analytics to gain additional insights
Design, develop, and implement data processing pipelines at scale.
Present programming documentation and design to team members to convey complex information in a clear and concise manner.
Extract data from multiple sources, integrate disparate data into a common data model, and integrate data into a target database, application, or file using efficient programming processes.
Write and refine code to ensure performance and reliability of preventive maintenance and sensor data extraction and processing.
Recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reliability in ETL development.
Participate in the development of proposals for additional funding in relevant research areas.
Train and mentor undergraduate and graduate students in the computer laboratory;
Analyze and summarize data, present at conferences and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Perform other related duties as assigned or directed.  The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.

Qualifications for Applicant:
PhD in Computer Science / Engineering or related discipline

Technical Skills:
Hands on knowledge /skills on various technologies which may include: HDFS, Spark, SQL Server, Java, Scala, Python, Kafka, Cassandra etc.
Knowledge of various classification, regression, anomaly detection algorithms is must.
Proficiency in using Kafka / Flume to load the structured/ unstructured data and batch / stream processing
Proficiency in using Spark and its libraries like (Spark SQL, Spark Mllib, Spark Streaming, etc) to perform machine learning
Experience in using visualization software like SAS, Tableau, Power BI, Matlab, SSRS, etc
Preferred working experience with Hortonworks / Cloudera Stack  
Exposure to various deep learning platforms like Tensor Flow and CNTK is desirable.

Advertised Salary: Commensurate on Experience

Work Schedule: 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM
