    New Faculty Searches in Mechanical Engineering

    The Department of Mechanical and Nuclear Engineering at The Pennsylvania State University in University Park is pleased to invite applications for tenure-track positions anticipated in mechanical engineering at the Assistant or Associate Professor levels. The Department will consider all areas pertinent to the mechanical engineering discipline with particular interest in machine learning, robotics, and intelligent systems.

    The Department is home to more than 65 faculty, 400 graduate students, and 1100 undergraduate students. The faculty conduct in excess of $20M per year of funded research across a broad spectrum of traditional and emerging areas. Penn State actively encourages and provides resources for interdisciplinary research collaboration through university-level institutes primarily focused on materials, health, and energy. The Department offers separate B.S., M.S., and Ph.D. degree programs in both mechanical engineering and nuclear engineering, including online graduate programs in mechanical engineering, nuclear engineering, and advanced manufacturing and design.     Successful applicants will have demonstrated outstanding scholarly research and will have expressed strong interest in engineering education. Qualification for the position is a doctorate in engineering or a related field that must be completed by the start date in the position. Those considered for the Associate level must demonstrate an established record in research. The successful candidates will be expected to teach courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels, to develop an internationally-recognized, externally-funded research program, and to contribute to the operation and promotion of the department, college, university, and profession through service.
