    [b]The Department of Mechanical & Biomedical Engineering (MBE) at Boise State University[/b] invites interested applicants to apply for a tenure-track faculty position, at the Assistant Professor level. A doctoral degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field is required, along with demonstrated potential for excellence in research and education. The successful candidate will be expected to make balanced contributions in teaching, research and service; supervise undergraduate and graduate students; have, or be on track to obtain, a Professional Engineering license; collaborate with existing faculty, local industry and Idaho institutions (Center for Advanced Energy Studies (CAES) and Idaho National Laboratory (INL); and, develop sustainable funded research programs.

    Candidates are being sought who have expertise that support, or are complimentary to, strategic research areas of the department, the university and CAES. Areas of particular interest include, but are not limited to:

    • design of energy systems
    • modeling and control of energy systems
    • energy efficiency engineering
    • high performance buildings
    • sustainable energy systems

    The MBE Department is part of a vibrant College of Engineering, recently ranked 15th in U.S. News & World Report's list of best undergraduate engineering programs among comprehensive public universities. The College is experiencing tremendous growth and receives a high level of support from the high tech industry in Idaho and the intermountain west. With nearly 20,000 students, Boise State is the largest university in Idaho.

    The university is located in Idaho's capital city and largest metropolitan area, which serves as the government, economic, business, health care and cultural center of the state. The City of Boise offers beauty and adventures, both outdoors and within its thriving arts scene and offering convenient access to outdoor recreation, including world class whitewater, skiing, biking, fishing and camping.
