The Erik Jonsson School of Engineering and Computer Science at The University of Texas at Dallas, invites applications for multiple faculty positions in all areas of Mechanical Engineering, at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor levels.
Endowed Chairs and Professorships are available for highly qualified applicants.
Qualified candidates must have a strong commitment to undergraduate and graduate education and potential to develop an externally funded research program.
Candidates for the positions at the Associate or Full Professor levels must have strong records of scholarly and professional achievements.
Created in the Fall of 2008, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is a key component of the University’s growth strategy.
The successful candidates will have a unique opportunity to shape this nascent department.
Of particular interest are candidates whose research impacts emerging applications of direct relevance to Energy, Health Care and Nanotechnology.
The Department is projected to employ 45 tenure-system faculty by 2020.
In addition to Mechanical Engineering, the Erik Jonsson School is home to the Departments of Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, and Material Science & Engineering and has interdisciplinary programs in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering and Software Engineering.
A new Biomedical Engineering graduate degree program is currently being developed, in collaboration with the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center and the University of Texas at Arlington. The close proximity to the Medical School offers additional interdisciplinary opportunities for faculty interested in biomedical applications.
The Erik Jonsson School is experiencing very rapid growth as part of a $300 million program, with funding from public and private sources. As a result, the School is expanding its existing programs, establishing new programs and recruiting outstanding faculty. In addition, a $100 million state-of-the-art building for interdisciplinary research in Engineering and Science was inaugurated in 2007.
The University of Texas at Dallas is situated in Richardson, one of the most attractive suburbs of the Dallas metropolitan area, with several hundred high-tech companies within a few miles of the campus, including Texas Instrument, Lockheed Martin, Raytheon, Lennox, Rockwell-Collins, Nortel Networks, Alcatel, Ericsson, Hewlett-Packard, Samsung, Fujitsu, Cisco Systems, EDS, Zyvex and Intervoice.
