The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of Connecticut (UConn) invites applications and/or nominations for tenure-track Assistant/Associate/Full Professor faculty positions, that will be part of an interdisciplinary, integrated team which will conduct research, education and outreach in the strategic areas of Sustainable Energy.
Areas of interest include, but are not limited, to photovoltaic/solar/thermoelectric cells, distributed/optimal energy generation, transmission and storage, power quality/conditioning and grid connectivity, power electronics and load management, among others.
Applicants for these positions must have Ph.D.s in Electrical Engineering or a related physical science discipline by the time of appointment, a demonstrated record of research and interests in sustainable energy related systems and an outstanding scholarly record.
Qualified candidates may be recommended for tenured positions.
The Electrical and Computer Engineering Department resides in the new Information Technologies Engineering Building and has 22 tenured and tenure-track faculty members, with a full-time enrollment of around 200 undergraduates and 130 graduate students.
Faculty members are internationally recognized leaders in their fields, including nine IEEE Fellows and ten major journal editors.
Departmental research expenditures are typically $4M per year.
This sustainable energy team will conduct visionary research, education and outreach, related to a new Eminent Faculty Initiative in Sustainable Energy established at UConn.
Research and related activities will primarily be centered within the School of Engineering’s Center for Clean Energy Engineering, a research hub that will coordinate the sustainable energy initiative.
These positions includes classroom teaching duties.
Successful candidates may work at the University’s main campus, located in Storrs and/or the campuses at Avery Point, Hartford, Stamford, Torrington, Waterbury and West Hartford.
The initiative is sustained by a permanent allocation of more than $2.8M annually from the State of Connecticut, supplemented by $5.6M in seed funding from private industry and other sources.
