The Masdar Institute of Science and Technology, located in Abu Dhabi, U.A.E., is a private, not-for-profit, independent, Graduate-level, research-driven institute, developed with the support and cooperation of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT).
The goal of the Institute is to develop, over a period of years, indigenous R&D capacity in Abu Dhabi, addressing issues of importance to the region in critical areas such as renewable energy, sustainability, environment, water resources and microelectronics.
Starting Fall 2009, the Institute has begun offering Graduate Degree Programs in Science and Engineering disciplines, with a focus on Advanced Energy and Sustainable Technologies (

The Materials Science and Engineering Program at Masdar Institute is seeking Faculty applicants at the Assistant, Associate and Full Professor levels.
Successful candidates, with Ph.D. degrees in Science or Engineering, are expected to have broad backgrounds and expertise in Materials Science, with particular emphasis on Nanomaterials and Emerging Energy Technologies.
Experience with micro/nano fabrication, processing and clean-room techniques, including lithography, lift-off, etching, RTA, thin-film deposition and processing is desirable. Also, expertise in analytical tools like SEM, EDS, XRD, AFM, TEM, Raman and XPS for structural, morphological and chemical characterization and in optical and electrical investigation of Materials, Structures and Devices, is a requirement.
The Masdar Institute is committed to establishing strong, world-class research in Materials, Structures and Devices for a wide range of applications, including renewable energy, sensors, LEDs, advanced organic-inorganic devices and micro- and nano-electronics.
Preference will, therefore, be given to outstanding candidates with demonstrated expertise and strong records of published research in one or more of these areas.
Applicants should have strong records of published research, experience in supervising Graduate Students and relevant teaching experience. In addition, candidates are expected to develop strong collaborative interdisciplinary research programs and seek external funding.
