A Postdoctoral Fellow Position is available immediately (Nov. 1, 2009) in the area of synthesis and testing of nanomaterials for oxygen reduction reactions.
The focus of this basic scientific research will be on the microstructure-properties relations in thin films and/or nano-scale powders.
This work is part of the National Fuel Cell Program and involves multiple institutional and industrial partners. Hence, good collaboration skills and communication are essential.
A successful candidate must have demonstrated expertise in both Synthesis and in Electrochemistry. The hired individual will, ultimately, take on a scientific leadership role within the Group, helping to develop new research directions and supervising Graduate Students.
Our laboratory facilities include an extensive electrochemistry laboratory, a suite of catalysis testing equipment, volumetric and gravimetric hydrogen sorption systems, high-pressure DSC and DSC/TGA, combinatorial sputter and evaporation thin films deposition and inert atmosphere powder processing. There is also institutional access to several advanced TEM’s and sample prep, a state-of-the-art UHV surface analysis center and XRD.
