INESC PORTO is accepting applications to award grants to graduates, to work in the under-mentioned Research project
Knowledge Discovery from Ubiquitous Data Streams
Work Area: Machine Learning, Data Streams, Distributed Data Mining
Description of the work to be carried out: The grantee will be part of a research team whose aim is to design, implement and evaluate exploratory data analysis tools and predictive models from continuous flow of distributed data in dynamic environments. The grantee will participate in the implementation of these tools in VFML or MOA environments.
Objectives to be accomplished by the Grant holder: To deliver working and tested prototypes as specified by the team, to conduct scientific experiments that evaluate the principles being proposed in the project, to participate in the writing of scientific papers, and colaborate in the organization of scientific events promoted by the project.
Scientific Advisor: Prof. João Manuel Gama
Academic Degree: Degree or MSc in Computer Science; Informatics, Applied Maths or similar
Minimum Profile required: programming skills (java, or C, C++, and R), knowledge of data mining
Preferred Profile: experience in data mining, data streams, developing machine learning applications
Type of Grant: Research Grants (BI)
Duration of the Grant: from 2009-12-02 to 2010-05-31 (6 months)
Monthly reference value: 745,00€ (for holders of a Degree) or 980,00€ (for holders of a Master’s Degree). The grant holder can receive additional payments by participating in complementary contracts or projects within the work plan (Clauses 12 e 13 of INESC Porto Grant Regulation and Annex II)
