Job Description
The Biomedical Engineering department at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking qualified applicants for part-time adjunct teaching assignments for BME 342, Transport in Biological Systems Lab.
The focus of this laboratory course consists of a central experiment and writing focus broken out into five sections of experiment/topic. These experiments are designed to demonstrate principles discussed in the lectures as well as introduce and familiarize students with basic principles and methods used widely in biomedical engineering to study transport phenomena in the human body. The writing lab report associated with each experiment will teach students how to write a specific component of a formal report.
This lab meets for the full for the 14-week semester. It is 3 separate lab sections meeting on two separate days of the week. 2 sections of the Lab are Monday. 1 section of the lab is on Thursday (1 credit each).
Instructors are required to prep before class, follow a syllabus and ensure consistent learning outcomes and will be responsible for all grading. Adjunct positions are on a semester-by-semester contract basis. Adjunct faculty will be responsible for teaching this course in a manner consistent with the specific course content description. Adjunct faculty are expected to hold office hours appropriate for the course(s) being taught. Assignments may include day or evening courses and will be in person at our Hoboken Campus.
Candidates will be evaluated on suitability of their academic preparation, past teaching experience, and potential for providing high quality instruction to our students.

Applicant Education/Professional Requirements:
- PhD preferred, Masters degree in Biomedical Engineering, Bioengineering or a related engineering field from an accredited program.
- 5 years of work experience in biomedical or related engineering management, previous teaching experience in Transport in Biological Systems Lab or related Laboratory course a plus.
- Teaching experience preferred
- Masters or PhD preferred
Under the direction of the Academic Department Chair develop and manage syllabus materials. Coordinate courseware and curriculum with academic department chair. Facilitate class instruction and evaluate student performance. This is a part-time position. Education: Master or Ph.D.in area of experience.
