YOUR ROLE

What impact will your role as a research assistant at ÉTS be?

The successful candidate will contribute to the bioinformatics infrastructure of this project. The role of the research assistant will be to develop, maintain and improve pipelines based on the latest research with a focus on version tracking, data provenance and high-performance computing.

On a daily basis, you:

  • You will assist Sylvain in his research activities as well as neuroscientists in the analysis of their data.
  • Design, test and evaluate neuroinformatics tools. Your knowledge of agile software development and continuous integration methods will be a definite asset.
  • Deploy data processing pipelines on high-performance computing servers and cloud platforms. Your rigor and attention to detail are key to your success in this role.
  • Collaborate in the development and improvement of the Research Chair's management processes and tools. Your organized and results-oriented project management will be essential to the growth of the laboratory.
  • You will contribute to the development of the network of external partners and participate in the search for funding from various funding organizations. You will be in contact with various stakeholders and will ensure administrative and financial follow-ups with them.
  • You will be responsible for maintaining your knowledge and staying on the lookout for new opportunities related to the themes of the Chair. Participating in conferences, congresses and carrying out scientific readings related to your field of expertise are among the tasks that stimulate you.
     

REQUIRED PROFILE

You will be successful if:

  • You have an engineering degree, as well as 2 years of experience or equivalent in a relevant discipline, notably in computer engineering, bioinformatics engineering, biomedical engineering or health technology engineering.
  • You have mastered Python programming and its tools in artificial intelligence, deep learning, and data science. Knowledge of other programming languages ​​such as R, SAS, matlab will be an additional asset for your success.
  • You know how to design, develop and maintain robust heterogeneous data processing pipelines in cloud environments. Your expertise in SQL and/or NoSQL database management and visualization systems (eg Grafana, Apache Superset) will be important.
  • You are recognized for your communication and writing skills and for your positive and collaborative attitude. Your diplomacy and your ability to summarize allow you to lead workshops and write impactful publications, in French and English.
  • You know how to adapt to changes inherent in research. You know the health technology research environment and you know how to bounce back when the unexpected occurs.
  • Please note that your application has additional assets if you have mastered the following knowledge:
    • Linux environment and Bash programming;
    • VR/AR technology;
    • Container technology (eg, Docker, Kubernetes);
    • Building dynamic web applications (eg, React, Angular, D3);
    • Basic knowledge of neuroscience and neuroanatomy;
    • Biostatistics;
    • Knowledge of medicine.
