YOUR ROLE

What impact will your role as a research assistant at ÉTS be?

The successful candidate will contribute to the bioinformatics infrastructure of this project. The role of the research assistant will be to develop, maintain and improve pipelines based on the latest research with a focus on version tracking, data provenance and high-performance computing.

On a daily basis, you:

• You will assist Sylvain in his research activities as well as neuroscientists in the analysis of their data.
• Design, test and evaluate neuroinformatics tools. Your knowledge of agile software development and continuous integration methods will be a definite asset.
• Deploy data processing pipelines on high-performance computing servers and cloud platforms. Your rigor and attention to detail are key to your success in this role.
• Collaborate in the development and improvement of the Research Chair's management processes and tools. Your organized and results-oriented project management will be essential to the growth of the laboratory.
• You will contribute to the development of the network of external partners and participate in the search for funding from various funding organizations. You will be in contact with various stakeholders and will ensure administrative and financial follow-ups with them.
• You will be responsible for maintaining your knowledge and staying on the lookout for new opportunities related to the themes of the Chair. Participating in conferences, congresses and carrying out scientific readings related to your field of expertise are among the tasks that stimulate you.
   

REQUIRED PROFILE

You will be successful if:

• You have an engineering degree, as well as 2 years of experience or equivalent in a relevant discipline, notably in computer engineering, bioinformatics engineering, biomedical engineering or health technology engineering.
• You have mastered Python programming and its tools in artificial intelligence, deep learning, and data science. Knowledge of other programming languages ​​such as R, SAS, matlab will be an additional asset for your success.
• You know how to design, develop and maintain robust heterogeneous data processing pipelines in cloud environments. Your expertise in SQL and/or NoSQL database management and visualization systems (eg Grafana, Apache Superset) will be important.
• You are recognized for your communication and writing skills and for your positive and collaborative attitude. Your diplomacy and your ability to summarize allow you to lead workshops and write impactful publications, in French and English.
• You know how to adapt to changes inherent in research. You know the health technology research environment and you know how to bounce back when the unexpected occurs.
• Please note that your application has additional assets if you have mastered the following knowledge:
  • Linux environment and Bash programming;
  • VR/AR technology;
  • Container technology (eg, Docker, Kubernetes);
  • Building dynamic web applications (eg, React, Angular, D3);
  • Basic knowledge of neuroscience and neuroanatomy;
  • Biostatistics;
  • Knowledge of medicine.

VOTRE RÔLE
Quel sera votre impact en tant qu’assistant(e) de recherche à l’ÉTS?

Le candidat retenu contribuera à l’infrastructure bioinformatique de ce projet. Le rôle de l’assistant de recherche sera de développer, maintenir et améliorer des pipelines basés sur les dernières recherches en mettant l’accent sur le suivi des versions, la provenance des données et l’informatique haute performance.

Au quotidien, vous:

Assisterez Sylvain dans ses activités de recherche ainsi que des neuroscientifiques dans l’analyse de leurs données.
Concevrez, testerez et évaluerez des outils neuroinformatiques. Vos connaissances des méthodes de développement logiciel agile et d’intégration continue seront un atout indéniable.
Déploierez des pipelines de traitement de données sur des serveurs de calcul haute performance et plateformes infonuagiques. Votre rigueur et votre souci du détail sont garants de votre succès dans ce poste.
Collaborerez au développement, à l’amélioration des processus et des outils de gestion de la Chaire de recherche. Votre gestion de projet organisée et orientée vers les résultats sera primordiale à la croissance du laboratoire.
Contribuerez au développement du réseau de partenaires externes et participerez à la recherche de financement auprès des différents organismes subventionnaires. Vous serez en relation avec des intervenants variés et assurerez les suivis administratifs et financiers auprès d’eux.
Serez en charge de maintenir vos connaissances et de rester à l’affût de nouvelles opportunités en lien avec les thèmes de la Chaire. Participer à des colloques, des congrès et effectuer des lectures scientifiques en rapport avec votre champ d’expertise font partie des tâches qui vous stimulent.

PROFIL RECHERCHÉ
Vous aurez du succès si:

Vous possédez un diplôme d’ingénieur, ainsi que 2 ans d’expérience ou un équivalent dans une discipline pertinente, notamment en génie informatique, en génie bio-informatique, en génie biomédical ou en génie des technologies de la santé.
Vous maîtrisez la programmation Python et ses outils en intelligence artificielle, apprentissage profond, et data science. La connaissance d’autres langages de programmation comme R, SAS, matlab sera un atout supplémentaire pour votre réussite.
Vous savez concevoir, développer et maintenir des pipelines robustes de traitement de données hétérogènes dans des environnements infonuagiques. Votre expertise dans des systèmes de gestion de bases de données SQL et/ou NoSQL et de visualisations (e.g. Grafana, Apache Superset) sera importante.
Vous êtes reconnu pour vos habiletés de communication et de rédaction et pour votre attitude positive et collaborative. Votre diplomatie et votre esprit de synthèse vous permettent d’animer des ateliers et de rédiger des publications à impact, en français comme en anglais.
Vous savez vous adapter aux changements inhérents à la recherche. Vous connaissez le milieu de la recherche des technologies de la santé et vous savez rebondir lorsqu’un imprévu survient.
