TENURE TRACK POSITION IN GEOINFORMATICS (Positioning and Geodesy)
which can be filled at any level from assistant professor to tenured professor
The task is to lead and practice research and teaching in the fields of positioning and geodesy. The position is located in the Department of Built Environment, see http://builtenv.aalto.fi/en/. Based on the department’s strategy, the focus of the research is on sustainable built environment, engineering in cold regions, computational modelling, digitalisation and social infrastructure. The research groups at the department are Geoinformatics, Real Estate Economics, Spatial Planning and Transportation Engineering, and Water and Environmental Engineering. Currently, the department has 25 professors. The research field in geoinformatics includes geoinformation technology, geodesy, photogrammetry, laser scanning and remote sensing (http://builtenv.aalto.fi/en/research/geoinformatics/).
The applicant should hold a doctorate in a discipline relevant for this position and have expertise in positioning (GNSS) and geospatial technologies as well as reference systems. The applicant should promote active collaboration with the Department and between stakeholders and develop collaborative research and teaching. Applicants must be able to acquire external funding from Finnish and international sources.
For foreign candidates, the language requirement is fluency in written and spoken English.
The applicants will be reviewed based on their research, teaching, academic leadership and activity in scientific community. Throughout their careers, those in the academic tenure track system are expected to exercise and guide scientific research, to provide related higher academic education, to follow the advances of their field, to participate in service to the Aalto University community, and to take part in societal interaction and international collaboration in their field.
Aalto University follows the salary system of Finnish universities, but applicants may also state salary requirements.
