The Department of Electrical Engineering (ELE) in the College of Engineering at American University of Sharjah (AUS) invites applications for a regular or visiting faculty position, preferably at the assistant or associate professor level, commencing in Fall 2024. The successful candidate for the regular position will be expected to establish a high-level, active research program supported by internal and external funding sources. The visiting faculty position is primarily focused on teaching. The visiting position is a one-year renewable contract and the regular position is a three-year renewable contract.

The applicant is required to have a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering with preferably a focus in the area of control engineering and good hands-on experience. Expertise in the areas of robotics and automation, embedded systems, intelligent systems, cyber-physical systems and mechatronics is a plus.

The candidate should show evidence of excellence in teaching and research. In addition, experience in the American model of higher education is highly desirable.

The Department of Electrical Engineering has approximately 205 undergraduate students, 43 graduate students, 15 full-time faculty and 4 lab instructors. Faculty and students represent very diverse backgrounds and nationalities; approximately 90 nationalities are present on campus. The department offers a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering and Master of Science in Electrical Engineering.
