Job Description

Summary of Position

The Systems Engineering Research Center (SERC) at Stevens Institute of Technology is seeking highly motivated individuals to join its research team as Research Assistant to support highly technical research and project related activities under the direction of a senior principal investigator to ensure the successful execution of the contract project. Appointments are typically for one year and are renewed based on performance and the availability of funds.

Responsibilities

Activities will depend on the projects as assigned and may include the following:

  • Conduct research and analysis to support existing projects as well as proposals for new bodies of work.
  • Extract, collect, and aggregate data across databases, information sources, survey responses, and other data sources.
  • Access and analyze data on system performance, policy effectiveness, and barriers to implementation and improvement.
  • Assists in documentation and reporting of study findings and recommendations. coordinating, administering, analyzing, and reporting on AAU surveys.

Requirements 

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, Engineering, Management, Operations Research, Law, Business, Public Policy, Economics, or another appropriate field or discipline.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as a member of an interdisciplinary team in developing innovative approaches to practical operational problems and executing cooperative, multidisciplinary research.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to represent the research approaches and results both in rigorous academic settings as well as to operational practitioners, leaders, and stakeholders.
  • Must be able to work independently and must have the ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment regarding matters of significance.

This is a part-time position available immediately. US Citizens preferred. Interested candidates should submit a CV (including publications), cover letter, and writing sample via Workday. Two references might be required upon request.
