Position description
The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering invites applications for four tenure-track positions in all areas of software engineering. Duties include research, teaching at both the graduate and undergraduate levels, and service to the institution. The selected candidates will join a dynamic and top-ranked group of world-renowned researchers in software engineering. These are tenure-track positions at the rank of Assistant Professor, but exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level may also be considered.
Qualifications and assets
Candidates must have completed their PhD in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline, or be near completion at the start date of the appointment. Membership or eligibility for membership in a Canadian professional engineering association, preferably in Quebec, is required.
The main criteria for selection are scholarly and teaching excellence. The successful candidates will provide evidence of high-quality scholarly output that demonstrates potential for independent research leading to peer assessed publications, industrial application of their research activities, and the securing of external research funding, as well as strong potential for outstanding teaching contributions at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Industrial experience will be a definite asset.
Candidates are encouraged to share any career interruptions or personal circumstances that may have had an impact on their career goals in their letter of application. These will be carefully considered in the assessment process. The Department values diversity among its faculty and strongly encourages applications from women and members of underrepresented groups. Concordia University is an English-language institution of higher learning at which the primary language of instruction and research is English. Since this position supports academic functions of the university, proficiency in English is required. Working knowledge of French is an asset.

The Department of Computer Science and Software Engineering has over 50 faculty members, working in varied fields in computer science and software engineering, and has seen a major expansion in recent years. The Software Engineering research group has been rated among the highest in North America for the last several years. The group counts amongst its members, a Canada Research Chair (Tier 1) and two recipients of the CS-Can InfoCan Outstanding Young Researcher of the Year award. Le Département d’informatique et de génie logiciel sollicite les candidatures pour quatre postes menant à la permanence dans tous les domaines du génie logiciel. La candidate ou le candidat sélectionné rejoindront un groupe dynamique et de premier plan de chercheurs de renommée mondiale en génie logiciel. Il s’agit de postes menant à la permanence au rang de professeur adjoint. Cependant, des candidates et candidats exceptionnels au niveau de professeur associé peuvent également être considérés.
Exigences et atouts
Les candidats doivent avoir obtenu leur doctorat en génie logiciel, en informatique ou dans une discipline connexe, ou être sur le point de l’obtenir à la date de début de la nomination. L’affiliation, ou l’admissibilité à l’affiliation à une association canadienne d’ingénieurs, de préférence au Québec, est essentielle.
