What Your Job Will Be Like

We are seeking a Postdoctoral Appointee to join our organization! On any given day, you may be called on to:

  • Perform solid mechanics research, development, modeling, and simulation to support Sandia’s national security mission
  • Develop theory and software to advance regularized failure modeling using the phase field approach
  • Work closely with experimental mechanics and material science organizations to provide validated results of complex and challenging problems
  • Publish research advances in peerreviewed journals
  • Demonstrate and document capabilities for internal and external funding agencies (e.g. Department of Defense)

Qualifications We Require

  • PhD degree in mechanical, civil, aeronautical, applied engineering, or other applicable engineering field
  • Demonstrated proficiency in computational solid mechanics research with particular emphasis on phase field fracture
  • Experience with using and developing modeling/simulation tools (e.g. finite element method)
  • Proficiency with code development in a modern programming language such as C++ or Python
