Posting Detail Information

Position Summary

The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) at the University at Buffalo (UB) invites applications for a senior faculty position in the broad area of clean energy and carbon neutrality. The ideal candidate will be an established scholar whose work complements the departments existing strengths in energy harvesting and storage; carbon dioxide capture and utilization; and hydrogen production, storage, transport, and utilization. Exceptional candidates at the Associate Professor level will be considered. The successful candidate should expect to participate in and, when appropriate, lead large multi-investigator proposals and projects that engage faculty members within and beyond the department. Over the past decade, the department has experienced unprecedented growth, roughly doubling in size. Throughout this expansion, we have maintained a highly collegial and collaborative environment, while enhancing diversity of our faculty across multiple dimensions. Our externally funded research expenditures have surpassed $10M per year and we typically publish approximately 170 refereed journal articles per year. CBE is one of ten departments in the School of Engineering and Applied Sciences, which is committed to research innovation, student support, and a culture of equity and inclusion for students, staff, and faculty. Learn more on our department website.

The successful candidate will be expected to:
    • Maintain an active externally-funded research program
    • Teach courses at the graduate and undergraduate levels
    • Mentor graduate students
    • Advise students at all levels
    • Collaborate within and beyond the department
    • Participate in large multi-investigator projects, leading them when appropriate
