The United States Naval Academy Aerospace Engineering Department invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor to begin as early as the summer of 2024. Areas of particular interest for this position include structural mechanics and materials, airbreathing propulsion, or aerospace vehicle design. Appointment at the rank of Associate Professor (non-tenured) will only be considered for an exceptional candidate with experiences in aerospace vehicle design. The faculty and staff of the department are a mixture of military officers and civilians from many backgrounds, who fulfill essential roles in the Academy's mission as engineering educators, mentors, and role models. Qualified candidates from all backgrounds are encouraged to apply.

Candidates should have a solid commitment to undergraduate teaching, conducting high-quality, peer-reviewed research, collegial service, and working with a diverse population of students drawn from every U.S. congressional district and territory.   

The United States Naval Academy is a four-year undergraduate institution with a mission to prepare midshipmen morally, mentally, and physically for commissioning as officers in the Naval or Marine Corps services. This is a civilian, on-site, federal excepted service position. Salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications. Application review will begin on or after November 1, 2023.
