Purdue University School of Construction Management Technology Automation and Intelligent Construction (AutoIC) Lab is urgently seeking a postdoctoral researcher starting from Fall 2022 (Sept. 1st) to work on construction robotics research. The postdoctoral researcher will take on all responsibilities of a project manager for a new patent-pending end-effector manufacturing-implementation-testing-adjustment project including managing logistics and further technology development, writing and editing publications and technical documentations (in collaboration with mentor), giving presentations as appropriate, writing progress reports, and mentoring/collaborating with undergraduate and graduate students who are involved in the execution of the project. The postdoctoral researcher will go through the Ignite entrepreneurship training program offered by Purdue Foundry, a cohort-based program for founders looking to start a company in the next 3-9 months. The postdoctoral researcher will also be involved in our national I-Corps team, and the mentor’s interactions with Purdue Research Foundation for technology disclosure, patent applications, and other activities such as annual Tech Showcase.

Requirements:

  • Doctoral Degree in Robotics, Technology, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture (or Architectural Engineering), Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, Computer Science, Electrical or Computer Engineering, or other Relevant Fields
  • Hardware prototyping or manufacturing experience
  • Electronics experience
  • Hands-on experience working with industry robots (e.g., Kuka, ABB, Fanuc, Yaskawa, etc.)
  • Java, Python or C++ programming background
  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong self-motivation
  • Excellent collaborative and interpersonal skills

Desirable (Optional):

  • Interests in commercialization and entrepreneurship
  • Competed on a college robotics team
