Applications are invited for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Technology Entrepreneurship and Professional Development in the School of Engineering in the Faculty of Applied Science at UBC, Okanagan.
The Faculty of Applied Science’s School of Engineering at UBC’s Okanagan Campus has world-class faculty and an innovative engineering curriculum to offer undergraduate and graduate engineering degrees in Electrical, Civil, Manufacturing and Mechanical specializations. The campus is situated in one of the most scenic and appealing regions in Canada and offers faculty and students exciting opportunities for interdisciplinary and region-centered research. The School of Engineering is located in a state-of-the-art building.

Assistant Professor Technology Entrepreneurship and Professional Development (Job Opening ID 37212)
Applicants must have outstanding experience in Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Engineering Management, Technical Communication, Technology and Business, or related disciplines. Individuals with an exceptional interest in entrepreneurship and commercialization, technical and engineering communication, professional development, and engineering education with a deep understanding of the technology and innovation sectors are encouraged to apply.
Applicants should have a Ph.D. in Engineering. Eligibility or registration as a P.Eng. in a Canadian professional engineering association would be an asset. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an independent, internationally recognized research program, teach courses covering Entrepreneurship and Innovation, Professional Development, and Technical Communication at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise Masters and Ph.D. students and provide service within the University and to the academic and broader community. Applicants must have either a demonstrated track record of, or possess a clear potential to achieve, excellence in research and teaching and must be willing to work with, or have experience working with industry
This position provides the opportunity to pursue a career at the School of Engineering as the School expands its connections with local technology and innovation centres. Entrepreneurship@UBC in the Okanagan (e@UBCO) is a part of the Innovation UBC Hub and serves as a nexus point for UBC Okanagan’s commercialization and entrepreneurship initiatives. UBC’s strategic plan and Outlook 2040 emphasize engagement with local technology and innovation centres and the establishment of the Innovation Precinct to create living labs as a technology hub. The university is looking to increase it annual economic impact in the Okanagan from $1.5 billion today to $4.8 billion in 20 years. This position is an opportunity to shape the economic impact of the university through collaborations with the technical community.
This is a tenure-track position and the successful candidate will be reviewed for reappointment, tenure, and promotion in subsequent years, in accordance with the Collective Agreement.
