Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering (Tenure-track)
The Department of Computer Science, Engineering, and Mathematics at the University of South Carolina Aiken seeks applications for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Mechanical Engineering to begin on August 16, 2025. Our rapidly growing department offers B.S. programs in Mechanical Engineering and Process Engineering.
Applicants must have a doctorate in mechanical engineering or a related field. ABD will be considered with degree conferred by August 16, 2025. Expertise in mechanics and material sciences is essential, along with strong potential for effective teaching at the undergraduate level using engaged learning strategies appropriate to the discipline and level (normal teaching load is 12 hours per semester). Strong applicants who can convincingly demonstrate that they will complete the degree in time (e.g., by documenting a scheduled defense) will also be considered. Successful candidates must have the qualifications and interests in teaching a wide range of mechanical engineering courses and will be expected to develop an active research program that includes mentoring of undergraduate research projects in lab and community settings. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.
