Dartmouth College invites applications for a Guarini Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellowship in the Thayer School of Engineering. This fellowship supports postdoctoral scholars whose research addresses AI and ML-based discovery of advanced materials for energy and electronics
The fellow will perform collaborative, cross-cutting research with a team of faculty in materials and electrical engineering led by Prof. Will Scheideler. The fellow will be advised by Prof. Scheideler as well as a mentorship team consisting of three faculty assigned to support them in their pursuit of a tenure track research and teaching career. This team will collectively meet with the fellow at regular intervals and provide opportunities for professional development in grant writing, research presentation, and advising of graduate students.
This fellowship is designed to promote student and faculty diversity at Dartmouth, and throughout higher education, by supporting underrepresented scholars as well as others with a demonstrated motivation and ability to advance educational diversity and inclusivity. Applicants will be selected on the basis of their academic achievement, promise in research and teaching, and demonstrated potential for addressing underrepresentation in higher education.
This is a two-year residential fellowship, with one course taught in the second year with the fellow serving as the instructor of record. Fellows are expected to pursue research activities while participating fully in the intellectual life of the department and the college. Examples of this participation could include engagement with faculty developing grant proposal teams and engagement with student groups including SHPE, IEEE, NSBE, and SWE. Fellows receive an annual stipend of approximately $65,000 plus benefits and an allocation for research expenses (exact funding levels will be set at the time of offer).
Guarini Dean’s Postdoctoral Fellows are part of the Provost’s Fellowship Program, a multidisciplinary cohort of approximately ten predoctoral and postdoctoral scholars who share a commitment to increasing diversity and inclusivity in their disciplines. Fellows participate together in mentoring and professional development programming, including guidance in preparing for faculty careers.
Dartmouth is committed to academic excellence and encourages the open exchange of ideas within a culture of mutual respect. People with different backgrounds, life experiences, and perspectives make the Dartmouth community diverse, which enhances academic excellence.
