Applications are invited for a Research Associate position; working with Professor Anthony Dixon in the Department of Chemical Engineering, at Worcester Polytechnic Institute, on a grant from ACS-PRF entitled Understanding local dynamic responses of fixed bed reactors by CFD. The specific work is for the research associate to develop high-fidelity models of packed tubes of various particle shapes using rigid body dynamics,to implement meshing software to develop computational models and to solve such models and interpret the results using CFD software. This work includes model development, code testing (verification) and model testing (validation). The research associate may also work on related research topics with Professor Dixon as well as assisting publication of results from the work.
- Applicants should have earned PhD in Chemical Engineering, and should have experience in chemical reaction engineering modeling, computational fluid dynamics and transport in porous media. They should have expertise in the use of CFD software such as ANSYS Fluent and rigid body dynamics software such as Blender. Ability to program in Python is necessary.
