Position Overview

The joint Department of Biomedical Engineering at Marquette University and the Medical College of Wisconsin invites applications for a full-time tenure track position. The Marquette University and Medical College of Wisconsin Department of Biomedical Engineering brings together the renowned engineering education and research of Marquette University and the innovative medical research and clinical practice of the Medical College of Wisconsin. This partnership provides an extraordinary foundation for those aspiring to join the next generation of biomedical engineers, scientists and physicians.

We seek applications from individuals working in the areas of computational biomechanics, prosthetics/orthotics, robotics or related areas. Although not required, experience in orthopedics, rehabilitation, or trauma is welcome. Strong applicants in other research areas will also be considered for our rapidly growing department. The successful candidate will be expected to develop an internationally recognized research program and to participate in the teaching and service missions of the Department. We are especially interested in candidates who will provide inspirational leadership in research and teaching who will engage in the collaborative opportunities created by the joint nature of the Department.

Duties and Responsibilities

Responsibilities of the successful candidate include demonstrated excellence in teaching, research and service. This includes, but is not limited to, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, advising and directing undergraduate and graduate students, performing service to the Department, College, University and academic community.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Earned doctorate or a terminal degree. Demonstrated potential for teaching excellence and high quality research.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Required knowledge, skills and abilities: The ideal candidate will have earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering or a related field.
Preferred knowledge: Knowledge of biomedical engineering in the broadly defined area of computational biomechanics, robotics, prosthetics/orthotics, and/or finite element methods. Although not required, experience in orthopaedics, rehabilitation or trauma is welcome.
