FACULTY POSITION Bioengineering – Open Rank
NYU Abu Dhabi
The Division of Engineering at New York University Abu Dhabi (NYUAD) invites applications for a tenure-track/tenured faculty position (at all ranks) in Bioengineering. As a part of a major multi-year growth plan, the following areas, broadly defined, are of particular interest at the present time: Tissue Engineering, Biomedical Imaging, Neural Engineering, and Biomechanics. Exceptional candidates from other areas of Bioengineering are also encouraged to apply.
NYUAD has state-of-the-art research facilities in a new 15 acre campus on Saadiyat Island in Abu Dhabi, UAE. The core research infrastructure is especially noteworthy, with extensive and exceptional range of instruments for Advanced Digital Manufacturing, Sequencing and High Throughput Screening, Spectroscopy, Microfabrication, Analytical and Materials Characterization, Nuclear Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), and Super-Resolution Microscopy. The Engineering Division of NYUAD has close collaborations with the NYUAD Division of Science, NYU Tandon School of Engineering, and NYU Langone School of Medicine in New York. In addition, NYUAD is establishing strong academic ties with the Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi (CCAD) for research collaborations. Our students are drawn from around the globe, surpassing all traditional academic benchmarks. In the past four years, the NYUAD undergraduate student body has garnered an impressive record of scholarships, graduate-school appointments, and many other honors including twelve Rhodes Scholarships. The NYUAD Global PhD Fellowship program attracts the best talent from across the world for pursuing doctoral research on campus.
Candidates must have a PhD degree in Bioengineering or related disciplines and must demonstrate their ability to develop and lead high-quality research and attract competitive external funding. NYUAD provides competitive start-up packages as well as salaries and relocation packages to its faculty that are on par with the best in class. It is also expected that the successful candidate will become a Global Network Professor of NYU that allows research and teaching privileges as well as access to programs and facilities at the NYU Tandon School of Engineering in New York.
Review of applications will begin January 15, 2019, and shortlisted candidates will be invited to visit the campuses in Abu Dhabi and New York during April 2019. Candidates should submit a cover letter, a curriculum vitae, statements of teaching and research interests and a list of references, to: http://apply.interfolio.com/58333. Each referee will be contacted to upload their reference letter only if the candidate is shortlisted for further consideration.

New York University has established itself as a Global Network University, a multi-site, organically connected network encompassing key global cities and idea capitals. The network has three foundational degree-granting campuses: New York, Abu Dhabi, and Shanghai, complemented by a network of eleven research and study-away sites across five continents. Faculty and students circulate within this global network in pursuit of common research interests and the promotion of cross-cultural and interdisciplinary solutions for problems both local and global.
Entering its ninth year, NYU Abu Dhabi has recruited a cohort of faculty who are distinguished in their research and teaching. NYU Abu Dhabi’s highly selective liberal arts college is complemented by faculty- led advanced research, sponsoring cutting-edge projects across the Arts, Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, and Engineering. The Engineering Division also takes pride in a thriving doctoral program, as well as in the postdoctoral researchers who have chosen to make NYUAD their research home.
