Summer Internship in speech recognition research group
We are now looking for 1-2 Aalto University MSc or BSc students in Finland as summer interns in the Automatic Speech Recognition research group at Department of Information and Communications Engineering at Aalto University for these two topics:
1. Documentation of speech data used in the research group
Over the years, we have accumulated tens/hundreds of speech data sets in different languages, the documentation of which (size, language, number of speakers, recording method, licenses, links, file paths, etc.) should be organized from scattered Readme files into a searchable format, e.g. a table.
2. Subtitling of lecture recordings by speech recognition
In recent years, we have accumulated dozens of recordings of lectures and presentations in English, the videos of which should be subtitled, e.g. for indexing and the hearing impaired. They are mainly our own courses (ASR and SNLP), MSc theses, research projects and conference presentations. Subtitling does not have to be completely error-free, i.e. reasonably successful automatic subtitling is fine. There are a few speech recognition systems in use, the results of which can be compared.
We look for talented and hard-working students who have strong interest in speech processing and machine learning. Success in relevant studies and all programming skills are valuable.
