The Department of Physics & Engineering at The University of Scranton invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position to begin August 2021. Responsibilities include teaching a variety of undergraduate lectures/labs (9-12 credits per semester), maintaining an active research program involving students, contributing to curriculum development and program assessment, providing service to the university, and effectuating a new program in Mechanical Engineering.

A PhD in Mechanical Engineering or closely related engineering field is required; expertise in advanced manufacturing or fluid/thermal science is preferred. A BS in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is required. Previous teaching experience at the undergraduate level is preferred. The successful candidate will demonstrate:

A commitment to excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring The expertise to teach several core undergraduate mechanical engineering courses, including but not limited to manufacturing processes, materials engineering, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, thermodynamics, and senior capstone design project An ability and desire to effectuate the new program in mechanical engineering through implementing curriculum improvement and selecting appropriate laboratory equipment Sustained research/scholarship with undergraduate student participation Excellent verbal and written communication skills in the English language. An ability to work with a diverse group of faculty members and students.
