Work description

  • Identify potential poisoning vulnerabilities in the use of federated learning with respect to attacks, in particular poisoning attacks.
  • Consider scenarios with time series and movement data.
  • Propose and evaluate solutions for attack detection and mitigation.
  • Submit a paper to ECML/PKDD 2025.

 

Academic Qualifications

PhD in Computer Science, Informatics Engineering, Artificial Intelligence or Data Science,

 

Minimum profile required

  • Publications in Machine Learning (at least 1 journal publication as first author in AI in a Q2 or upper journal – scimago, at least 2 conference papers in CORE)

 

Preference factors

Research experience with time series and federated learning.

 

Maintenance stipend: € 1801,00, according to the table of monthly maintenance stipend for FCT grants , paid via bank transfer. Grant holders may be awarded potential supplements, according to a quarterly evaluation process (Articles 19, 21 and 22 of the Regulations for Grants of INESC TEC and Annex II), up to a maximum limit of 50% of the monthly maintenance stipend.

INESC TEC supports costs with registration, enrolment or tuition fees, during the grant duration, under the terms established in the internal document: "Payment of Tuition fees to grant holders".

 

The grant holder will benefit from health insurance, supported by INESC TEC.
