Professional Track Teaching Faculty Position in Structural Engineering

The Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at The Pennsylvania State University invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure-line, professional track teaching faculty position in structural engineering. The successful candidate will teach courses pertaining to structural engineering and related geotechnical engineering topics. The successful candidate will also contribute to the CEE department through service, such as advising student organizations and serving on department committees.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will have design-related experience and hold a master's or doctoral degree in civil engineering or a closely related field. In addition, candidates should be licensed or candidates for licensure as a professional engineer (P.E.) and have demonstrated teaching experience through academic courses, professional conference presentations, or related activities.

Appointment would be at the appropriate faculty rank of Assistant Teaching Professor, Associate Teaching Professor, or Teaching Professor. Rank and length of term will be determined based on education and experience. About the Department:

The vision of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering (CEE) at Penn State is to achieve the highest quality of life for all, through sustainable and resilient civil infrastructure systems. Our mission is to address complex and evolving societal needs in both the natural and built environments by delivering an outstanding education, conducting impactful research, and providing inspirational service to society and our profession. The CEE Department is a vibrant and dynamic unit with 35 faculty members, 14 staff members, more than 460 undergraduate students, and more than 120 graduate students and postdoctoral scholars. Our programs are highly ranked by the U.S. News and World Report: the undergraduate specialties in civil engineering and environmental engineering are ranked 13th and 15th, respectively, while the graduate programs in civil engineering and environmental engineering are ranked 19th and 21st, respectively. CEE is home to outstanding faculty members, including 11 NSF CAREER Award recipients and a member of the National Academy of Engineering.
