Position description

The Guthrie Lab within the Department of Bioengineering at the University of California, Berkeley, seeks postdoctoral scholars to investigate the role of small molecules from human microbiomes in kidney biology. The Guthrie lab aims to decipher the basic biology, sources of heterogeneity, and opportunities to modulate diet-derived microbiota-dependent metabolites (MDMs) for beneficial host signaling. We use computational methods and mass spectrometry to quantify MDMs and molecular techniques to investigate their function in vitro and in vivo.

Specific duties and training experiences include:

  • Design and analyze experiments using a kidney organoid model.
  • Design and analyze experiments using mass spectrometry.
  • Gain and develop expertise in mass spectrometry.
  • Present at update and lab meetings.
  • Contribute to publications.
