SIT focuses on working with the industry on translational research and innovation, spanning technology readiness levels (TRLs) 3-7. Unlike traditional research which is discovery-oriented, applied research projects have higher TRLs which bridge the gap between theoretical research and industry applications. SIT Engineering Cluster focused on the three key pillars of Applied Research (i) Infrastructure (Maintenance) (ii) Sustainability (Built Environment) (iii) Energy Resilience to work with the industrial sectors in Singapore as well as in the region.
For this faculty position, we are looking for appointee with the following essential and desirable skillset and competencies to support the Infrastructure (Maintenance) Applied Research Pillar.
Essential
Is competent in synthesizing functional materials for adoption in process, products or system
Use surface engineering, processing technique to optimize materials performance for adoption in the sector
Preference for expertise who has implement or integrate fabricated materials for test case in infrastructure
Desirable
Have worked or lead teams in the aspect of structural design, material synthesis and 3D printing of metallic, composite and polymeric structures for integration into infrastructure
An innovator in adopting new materials for specific industry sector needs.
Preferred to be having a PhD (in Materials Science/ Engineering)
Prior working experience on infrastructure projects with train, port and terminal operators are preferred.
Teaching experience in the related field of materials/ mechanical engineering will be preferred.
