The University of Pretoria invites applications from excellent doctoral graduates to apply for Postdoctoral Fellowships at the University. These fellowship enable recent doctoral graduates to join the University as postdoctoral researchers, and to develop their research skills and academic careers through participation in the University’s areas of research strength and strategic priorities. One of the University’s research strengths are energy and in the wide field of energy in heat transfer. This research is being conducted in the School of Engineering, in the Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering.
The School of Engineering has 7,000 students and is ranked by the ISI on citations as amongst the world’s top 1%. The Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering is the largest Department of Mechanical Engineering in South Africa, comprising 50 Faculty and more than 1,900 Undergraduate and Graduate Students. The Programme offered by the Departments is internationally recognized, via the Washington Accord.
The Department of Mechanical and Aeronautical Engineering which enjoys an international reputation in teaching and research, invites applications from suitably qualified persons for a Postdoctoral Position, to be filled as soon as possible.
Postdoctoral Positions are awarded for periods of two years. Applicants are expected to be less than 35 years in age and must have obtained their PhD’s within the past five years. Publications in reputable peer-reviewed journals are expected. The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and creative, with good communication skills and with expertise in experimental heat transfer (single phase convection or condensation), nanonfluids, CSP and topology optimization.
