Professor (all ranks) in Systems and/or Manufacturing Engineering
Location: Arizona State University – Polytechnic Campus
The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University (ASU) and The Polytechnic School (TPS) seeks applicants for a tenure-track or tenured faculty position in Product and Process Innovation, Optimization, and Supply Chain Resilience with emphases in engineering and manufacturing. Appointment will be at the assistant, associate, or full professor rank commensurate with the candidate’s experience and accomplishments, beginning August 2020. Although appointments may be in any of the six schools in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering, an appointment is expected to be in the Polytechnic School.
Specific areas of expertise and interest include, but are not limited to, design for manufacturing, process optimization using smart materials/novel sensors/actuators/controls and automation techniques with AI or machine learning for various applications including, aerospace, energy, automotive, robotics systems.
We seek applicants who will contribute to our programs and will leverage investments by the university in promoting interdisciplinary teaching and research. These investments include, among others, collaborations with our industrial partners in the local area like aerospace, defense, semiconductor, electronics, renewable energy, robotic, automotive, chemical industries, etc.
Faculty members in the Fulton Schools of Engineering are expected to develop an internationally recognized and externally funded research program, teach undergraduate and graduate courses, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, foster and contribute to inclusive work environment, and undertake service activities.
Earned Ph.D., or equivalent degree in manufacturing, mechanical, materials, industrial, chemical engineering, supply chain, operations management or a related field by the time of appointment; and
Evidence of excellence in teaching and research as appropriate to the candidate’s rank.
Commitment to trans-disciplinary teaming;
Ability to engage in well-established research initiatives with numerous industrial partners within the Phoenix-Metro area; and
Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion that align with upholding the ASU Charter.
